Thank You, Robert Singleton!

Robert Singleton

Robert Singleton preached yesterday and he did a great job! The text he led us through was Romans 8:28: “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.” Highland, let us continue to ‘put a little work into our faith’ - entrusting the Lord to work all things together for His glory and our good.

TENT GATHERING AT 10AM THIS SUNDAY

This Sunday, we look forward to seeing everyone at the Tent Gathering. Robert Singleton will preach, plus Rob and Carrie will lead worship. Thanks to all who make Tent Gatherings possible! We appreciate you so, so much! Our schedule is as follows:

  • 9am-10am: Coffee and Conversation. As you arrive, grab a cup of coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Enjoy having conversation with one another and the chance to be together. Also, if you’re willing, some will be setting up for the 10 am service. We welcome your help, if you’re able.

  • 10am-11am: Tent Gathering Service. *At 10am, bring your camping chairs or blankets to make for yourself a place outside, underneath our tent. We will gather to worship as we set our eyes upon Jesus. Highland, I ask that we would be in prayer for the name of Jesus to be exalted in our corporate gathering; that those who wander, or are deceived throughout our streets, would hear that Jesus saves, and repent! We will conclude and dismiss following this service. So, breakfast will be offered but not lunch.

We are strongly encouraging social distancing and masks will be available for those who would feel most comfortable wearing one. If you have a mask, please bring one for yourself to use.  We ask that you stay home when you are sick. We also ask that you cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. Also, avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Finally, keeping your hands clean using sanitizer or by washing them with soap is vital. If you have a personal bottle of sanitizer, bring it and keep it on you for your personal use throughout gatherings.

Happy Father's Day!

Each Father’s Day, we read this passage aloud, charging all of our dads with God’s Word. Highland dads, we are proud of you, we support you, we love you! Press on to know the Lord and to make known Him in your homes.

“Praise the Lord!

How joyful are those who fear the Lord

    and delight in obeying his commands.

Their children will be successful everywhere;

    an entire generation of godly people will be blessed.

They themselves will be wealthy,

    and their good deeds will last forever.

Light shines in the darkness for the godly.

    They are generous, compassionate, and righteous.

Good comes to those who lend money generously

    and conduct their business fairly.

Such people will not be overcome by evil.

    Those who are righteous will be long remembered.

They do not fear bad news;

    they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.

They are confident and fearless

    and can face their foes triumphantly.

They share freely and give generously to those in need.

    Their good deeds will be remembered forever.

    They will have influence and honor.”

(Psalm 112:1-9, NLT)

Prayer Guide: June 20th

1. Praying for Our Youth

“But You Yourself have seen trouble and grief,

observing it in order to take the matter into Your hands.

The helpless entrusts himself to You;

You are a helper of the fatherless” (Psalm 10:14, HCSB).

Highland, James Gamble called me this week and was so compelled to pray for our youth; there are so many countless reports of violence. So, let’s begin by praying for our streets, especially our youth.

2. Building According to His Wisdom

“A house is built by wisdom,

and it is established by understanding;

by knowledge the rooms are filled

with every precious and beautiful treasure” (Proverbs 24:2-3, HCSB).

Regarding our building plans, no matter what, we will build according to the Lord’s wisdom, not our own, nor the world’s wisdom. As the project continues to draw nearer to breaking ground, let us ask the Lord to give us a unified knowledge and understanding of His building plan, and that every square-inch of our campus will be consumed by the beauty of His glory and presence.

3. Praying for Revival

Our Ask: To be a people that hunger and thirst for righteousness (heart-agreement with the Lord) and to be filled (Matthew 5:6 & 6:22-23; Psalm 119:33-40).

  • Our Hearts will Hunger for His Righteousness.

Pray that Highland (individually and collectively) would seek to remain in heart agreement with our Lord, according to His holy Word and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon us.

If anyone is entangled in sin and unrepentant, may the Holy Spirit bring upon us conviction through His kindness, leading us to repentance and deliverance from sin. First with our church-family, then our personal family and throughout our streets.

May we experience the filling of the Holy Spirit in our midst, as a church, in our families and in our streets. May His outpouring result in conviction of sin, righteousness and judgment, causing the filling of His presence to lead us to revival.

  • For His Righteousness to have the Right Grip Upon our Eyes.

We are praying, Highland, that our eyes would find no attraction in the worthless things of this world. Rather, that our eyes would be steadily set upon the eternal treasure of Jesus and His glory and riches.

That our eyes would find delight in dwelling within the light of Christ instead of sin and darkness.

That through prayer and faithfulness, we will discipline our eyes to continually share in agreement with the heart of the Lord.

Highland, let us build our church upon His righteousness; bowing our hearts in agreement with our Lord’s heart. For the church is comprised of His people, unified, declaring Jesus as Lord! If we are not a people unified for the glory of Jesus, hungering and thirsting for His righteousness, it does not matter if we worship outside, under a tent, or in a multi-million dollar facility, we have missed it. Highland, I do not intend for us to miss - I intend to hit the target, by magnifying His glory, as He has given us a future and a hope beyond belief! I am so grateful and excited for what He is doing in us and through us, Highland. All glory to Him! I love you, Highland.

Pressing on to know Him and to make Him known,

Rob

Prayer Gathering: Tomorrow, 9am.

IMG_0047-2.jpeg

Highland,

We are cancelling the Tent Gathering tomorrow due to weather conditions. However, at 9am, we will hold a Prayer Gathering in our sanctuary for all who want to attend. The morning will begin with conversation, coffee and a breakfast sandwich. At 9:30am, we will then transition into our prayer-service. Billy will lead us in our time of worship and I will facilitate our time of prayer. For those of you who will be unable to attend due to weather, our prayer-guide is soon to be posted. Keep your eyes open for it on our blog page. Please rally your family and loved ones around the dining-room table and pray with us.

I love you, Highland!

The Right Grip of Righteousness Upon Our Eyes

Highland, as we look back over Sunday’s charge to allow the righteousness of Christ to maintain the right grip upon our eyes, I offer you what Jesus says about our eyes:

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. So if the light within you is darkness — how deep is that darkness (Matthew 6:22-23, HCSB)!

Jesus says that out of the heart, the mouth speaks; meaning that the words that our tongues utter reveal whether we bear a sinful-nature (producing sinful-fruit) or a nature under the authority of the Holy Spirit - producing a renewed and, therefore, righteous nature within us.

If out of the heart the mouth speaks, then what our eyes choose to take in and fixate upon, reveal the appetite of our hearts - do we have an appetite for darkness or for the light? If we fix our eyes on the light, then our whole body will be consumed with light. For our eyes to engage the light is a choice made by our hearts, which is to hunger for the light; for our eyes to engage darkness, though, is also a choice our hearts make, revealing that our hearts have a hunger for darkness.

Highland, for righteousness to have the right grip upon our eyes, we must discipline our eyes through prayer and faithfulness to take in only what is agreeable in God’s eyes. I want us to enter into a heart-agreement with the Lord over what our eyes should gaze upon - that we, as His people, would direct our eyes to dwell upon and delight within the light of His presence.

Praying for Righteousness to Have the Right Grip Upon Our Eyes

  1. We are praying, Highland, that our eyes would find no appeal in the worthless things of this world. Rather, that our eyes would be steadily set upon the eternal treasure of Jesus and His glory and riches.

  2. That our eyes would find delight in dwelling within the light of Christ instead of sin and darkness.

  3. That through prayer and faithfulness, we will discipline our eyes to continually share in agreement with the heart of the Lord.

Let us press on in the real work of the church, Highland, and that is prayer. “My house shall be called a house of prayer…” (Jesus).

I love you,

Rob
